I just hatched a Pawniard an hour ago. And I'd show him, but. I sent him to the Center with my Happiny soon after. It's a pretty high level out here for a newborn... But, an hour ago, I finally found one!

[He turns his gear around, and behold, a fluffy ball, rolling in the grass. But at the breeder's laugh, it stops and reveals itself to have a blue face and legs.]

Ah-ha, I wonder if all Mareeps do that... Anyways, catching one was my main goal coming down here, so now I better ask Bakura-kun what he wants to do. I would have actually called even sooner, but a Hoppip attacked right after, and Shin had to fight it off-

[A sudden flash to the side, and the screen wobbles. A second for Yuugi to gasp, and everything goes dark.]

Annin's been training quite a bit since I caught him. [[smiles fondly]] So he's much stronger the the ones still in the wild. He just doesn't want to evolve, that's all.

Oh? I wonder what that says, about what evolving means to them.

[Curious look at Annin, grinning.]

Do you just like yourself now, or is it something else? Hmm... I wonder what my others might want to do. Or what they'd turn into. Like, Bakuto-

[Like, the Mareep he's realizing is wandering right to her namesake, rubbing by him.

-oh dear, sorry for the hair rise.]

[[Annin gives a exclamation of 'Not again!' as he leaps for safety, clinging to Yuugi's hair instead as Bakura just looks amused and utterly used to it. Happens all the time with Blackheart, after all!]]

With a lot of them, they get bigger and heavier, which is why Amane-chan can't be in my hair anymore, same for Zoku! I don't think Annin doesn't want to risk that. [[smiles fondly.]]

[Gerp- Hey, Annin. It might be soft enough up there, but his hair isn't made to bend that way!]

[Can he make do with Yuugi's arms? Because he's trying to bring him down to them.

I was thinking I'd just go ahead with evolving, when it came up, but I guess I should run it by them, first.

I think for most of them... they'll let you know when they want to. Others, you need to get them something. Like Amane-chan. She needed a dusk stone, and once I had gotten given one, she dove for it. [[a warm smile]]

Oh- well that's straightforward! For the ones with stones, like Isami, I can just see if he wants to.

But, Shin...

[The now close-to-his-height jackal is getting a curious look.]

Did you just grow strong enough after the fight?

[Hmm, that shake is a no...]

Maybe he had something else change? Like Zoku needed to be happy enough when he leveled up [[something that was pretty amazing from the perpetually cranky bat!]]

-they can evolve if they're happy enough?

Shin, did you grow because you're happy?

[-if it's not obvious, that dramatic arm-cross stance take is what Yuugi takes to mean "yes".

Aaaa, that's great! and pretty quickly took, just as expected from Yuugi-kun!

I don't know! I'm glad I could help him... But Shin's been training really hard! I bet that had something to do with it... Maybe being strong makes him happy?

[Shin does look, thoughtful... But. Erp- Isami, don't bite his pants and look so indignant!]

Ah- Don't be mad! I already know, you evolve from a fire stone. You don't need to evolve to show you're working hard. I'm proud of all of you!

Could be! [[And Isami gets such an amused look from Bakura]] The important part is to keep striving to be better, right, Isami? More than to just look stronger.

Right! Being strong has nothing to do with how big you are-
